Mercedes Restaurant

Belgium designer franky claeys has created an in-house restaurant that enhances the mercedes experience beyond cars and paraphernalia. located at the grand sablon in the heart of brussels, the brief from mercedes belgium was for an overall lifestyle affair – representing the high quality the car company is known for. the design concept for 'WY restaurant' is based on an orange and black version of the mercedes SL 65 AMG series. run by a two star michelin chef the kitchen is a stainless steel heaven, that provides both food and entertainment for the guests. the back wall of the kitchen is clad with huge video screens, which not only feature promotional videos, but also fed live streams of the meal preparation. the technologically advanced restaurant has high tech plasma screens and iPads that display the menu and a custom designed app allows restaurant goers to sure the experience with friends. every element of the design from the logo to the serving trays and even the food photography was specially commissioned, adding to this brasserie de luxe experience. lighting artist matilde alessandra developed three installations that playfully refer to the brand's iconic star logo.(via designboom.com)
