Geruchten over een SLT gaan door…
“Not to be outdone by its compatriots, Mercedes-Benz is said to be preparing an answer for the Porsche Cayman and BMW Z4 Coupe. To be based on the SLK coupe/cabriolet, Merc’s three-door variation is rumoured to be called SLT. The Stuttgart-based carmaker now has a fancy habit of rolling out niche cars based on existing models.
The rumour mill in Frankfurt suggest that the SLT will get the same front end as the SLK, but with a more upright rear windshield that the Cayman and Z4 Coupe.
The obvious engines include the 2.5- and 3.5-litre V6s. On the highest end could be an AMG-powered 5.5-litre V8 or the brand-new 6.3-litre V8 developing some 500hp.
In fact, this new naturally aspirated eight-cylinder motor is being highlighted in the M-class SUV (ML63) and R-class crossover (R63). It will eventually follow in other Mercs.”
