Het wordt steeds erger met die tuners. In een race om wie de eerste is met een upograde voor een nieuw model begint Lorinser alvast met het rondsturen van schetsen.
Maar wanneer krijgen we ‘em dan echt te zien? Volgens Lorinser zal dit over 2 maanden zijn, ergens in mei 2009. De bodyit bestaat uit oa een voorspoiler, dakspoiler, extra luchtinlaten, lichtmetalen velgen en een diffusor met vier uitlaatpijpjes.
Motorisch kan men de Mercedes E500 (V8) opvoeren van de standaard 388 pk tot 435 pk. Het max koppel stijgt van 530 naar 570 Nm en de topsnelheid zou stijgen naar 280 km/u.
Sportservice Lorinser called the new E-class W212 in for a one-to-one talk and decided that it needed extra sports lessons. The upper middle-class of Mercedes has never been in such good form and the traditional tuner from Winnenden says that precisely this much dynamic talent is what it wants to encourage. At times carefully and at other times radically, the designers sharpened the profile of the limousine, although at no point was this in contradiction with its original character.
For example the front spoiler has been “arrowed” forwards more to give the car the decisive advantage in overtaking prestige. A “powerful” promise which the high-performance engines of the E-class deliver across the board. It bubbles up powerfully under the bonnet, particularly in connection with a Lorinser performance upgrade. As a result the provisional top model E 500, with the aid of special camshafts, an upgraded exhaust system and an adjusted control unit generates 320 kW / 435 HP instead of 285 kW / 388 HP. At the same time the torque climbs from 530 to 570 Nm and the top speed reaches 280 km/h. As a matter of honour, the diesel engines will also soon be given a few extra horsepower from the Lorinser stables. In order to be able to master every tight corner at full gallop, a lowered sport suspension is applied.
A further sign of the power of the fast Mercedes are the typical Lorinser fenders filled with big air inlets. Together with the muscular shaped side sills and the type RS 9 light-alloy wheels, they give the sides bold new curves. The Swabian vehicle tuner places diverse new emphases on the rear, which is somewhat muted in the serial version. The roof spoiler breaks up the cubic lines and brings optical interaction into play. The real eye-catcher is, however, the rear apron with a diffuser: it is equipped with four exhaust pipes which are just as large as sonorous-sounding, which expertly underline the vehemence of the vehicle both optically and acoustically. Once the complete tuning program is available at the end of April / start of May, the W212 will be able to become the strongest Lorinser E-class of all times in terms of style and dynamics.
